Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 2 June 2026. This template requires review by the operator and, ideally, a lawyer before reliance.
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of youreuropeanroots.com (the “Website”) and the purchase of our digital products. By using the Website, creating an account, or placing an order, you agree to these Terms. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website or buy our products.
1. Who We Are
- Seller / operator: [PLACEHOLDER: legal entity name]
- Address: [PLACEHOLDER: registered address]
- Registration number: [PLACEHOLDER: NIP / REGON or company number]
- VAT ID: [PLACEHOLDER: VAT ID]
- Contact: hello@youreuropeanroots.com
We trade under the brand “Your European Roots”.
2. Scope & Our Products
We are a small online publisher selling digital-only products, including an eBook and printable PDF genealogy “cheat sheets”, available individually or as bundles. There are no physical goods and no shipping. All products are delivered as instant downloads via your customer account and by email.
3. Your Account
To access and re-download your purchases, you may need to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and able to enter into a binding contract.
4. Ordering & Acceptance
By placing an order and completing payment, you make an offer to purchase the selected product. The contract is formed when we confirm your order and make the download available. We may decline or cancel an order (for example, in case of suspected fraud, payment failure, pricing error, or breach of these Terms).
5. Prices & Taxes
- Prices are shown on the Website and are stated in US dollars (USD) unless otherwise indicated.
- Typical prices: eBook $19; individual cheat sheet $9; bundles $39 / $49. Current prices always prevail at checkout.
- EU VAT on digital services: where required, VAT on supplies of digital services to EU consumers is accounted for by the seller, and any such VAT will be reflected in the price or at checkout.
- Other taxes / duties: you are responsible for any local taxes, sales tax, GST/HST or similar charges that may apply to your purchase in your own country, except where we are legally required to collect them.
6. Payment
Payments are processed securely by Stripe using your debit/credit card. We do not store your full card details. Your payment is subject to Stripe’s terms and the rules of your card issuer. Access to your download is provided once payment is confirmed.
7. Licence to Use Digital Products
When you buy a digital product, you do not buy the content itself — you receive a limited licence to use it. Subject to payment, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-commercial licence to download, store and print the product for your own private use.
You may not:
- resell, sublicense, rent, lend or otherwise distribute the product;
- share, upload or republish the product (in whole or in part) on any website, file-sharing service, social platform or to any third party;
- remove copyright or attribution notices; or
- use the product for any commercial purpose without our prior written permission.
All intellectual property rights in our products and on the Website remain with us or our licensors. Some images used in our products are sourced from the public domain; such images are identified where appropriate and their public-domain status applies only to those specific items, not to our products as a whole.
8. Delivery
Delivery is electronic and immediate. After successful payment, you will receive access to download your product via your customer account and a confirmation email containing a download link. Please ensure your email address is correct. If you do not receive access, contact us at hello@youreuropeanroots.com.
9. Refunds
Because our products are digital and delivered immediately, specific rules apply to cancellation and refunds. Please see our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
10. Acceptable Use of the Website
You agree not to misuse the Website, including by attempting to gain unauthorised access, introducing malicious code, scraping or copying content without permission, or interfering with its operation or security.
11. Disclaimers
Our products provide genealogy guidance and educational information only. They are not professional, legal or official records advice. Genealogy research depends on the availability and accuracy of historical records, which we do not control. We do not guarantee any particular research result, the discovery of any ancestor or record, or the accuracy or completeness of third-party records. The Website and products are provided “as is” and “as available” to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your non-waivable statutory consumer rights). Subject to that, to the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits, or loss of data, and our total liability arising out of or in connection with a product is limited to the amount you paid for that product.
13. Consumer Rights
If you are a consumer, you may have mandatory statutory rights under the law of your country (including EU, UK, US, Canadian or Australian consumer law). Nothing in these Terms affects those rights where they apply.
14. Intellectual Property
The Website, its design, text, graphics, logos and our products are protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited licence granted in Section 7, no rights are transferred to you.
15. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland and, where applicable, the law of the European Union. Mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence continue to apply where they grant you stronger protection. Disputes will be subject to the competent courts, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer jurisdiction rules.
16. Dispute Resolution & EU ODR
We aim to resolve any issue informally first — please contact hello@youreuropeanroots.com. EU consumers may also use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obliged to, and do not currently commit to, participate in proceedings before a consumer arbitration body unless required by law.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in force at the time of your order applies to that order. The “Last updated” date above shows the latest revision. Continued use of the Website after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
